Veleno BBS is maintained as a living piece of BBS culture: a place where people can still experience the style, community and technology that existed before the modern web took over.
The goal is simple: keep the memory of BBS culture alive and make it accessible to people who never had the chance to experience it when dial-up modems, terminal screens and privately operated bulletin board systems were part of everyday online life.
Before the Internet became mainstream, people connected directly to another person's computer using a modem. That machine often stayed online 24 hours a day and became a small digital community of its own. That is the world Veleno BBS is trying to preserve.
Maintaining a public BBS and its website takes both time and real infrastructure. I am happy to contribute the time, development and maintenance, but hosting and server resources still have ongoing costs.
There is no required contribution level. Whether it is a small donation or something larger, the important part is supporting the project and helping keep the system online.
Donations are used toward the operating costs of Veleno BBS and its public infrastructure. Thank you for helping keep this old network alive.
